- Wear a helmet…Every trip, every time.
- Only ride a bicycle that is the right size for you – oversized bikes can be dangerous.
- Always check your equipment before you ride – especially the brakes.
- Stay alert – always be aware of what is around you & lookout for obstacles.
- See & be seen – avoid biking at night & wear brightly colored clothing.
- NO passengers – always ride one to a bike.
- Keep both hands on the handlebars.
- Even on the sidewalk & bike paths, it’s important to be alert for cars and other dangers.
- Learn & follow the Rules of the Road.
Children under 10 years of age are generally not considered old enough to bike independently on neighborhood streets and roads.
